How do the cities we love come to be? Do they form out of chaos? Do they evolve? Are they designed? Why should we think about how we build our cities? Because in the near future critical issues such as energy, climate, localism, and population will challenge the ways our cities have been built for a century and the problems they bring. Yet, increased density is a solution too. Successful cities with vitality and an identifiable culture emerge when a community works together to support a larger, generally agreed-upon vision of the future. This is the focus of Urbanism and our panel.
